Mynor and his family

I want to share about this family that I met a couple weeks ago. A man named Raul brought a 14-year old boy, named Mynor, to a distribution to receive a chair. He is a very smart boy with Cerebral Palsy, and understands everything. He is not able to communicate though, being non-verbal. He came along with his brother, Erick (12 years old). Their mother was not able to take him because she is a widow and works long hours at a factory. There are three brothers, the third is attending school. Erick, on the other hand, cannot because he has to stay home to take care of Mynor. These situations are very typical here, especially for the families that have children with a special need or disability. The future for Erick is limited because of his lack of education; and Mynor has the capability of learning and communicating his needs, but has never been able to learn how to express himself.

Raul is a man of God that has decided to take this family on, and help them in any way possible. He was reaching out to us for help on the day of the distribution. I am planning on visiting them in the upcoming week to learn more about the situation, meet their mother, and to possibly set up times to visit and work with Mynor and Erick. I’m not sure what that will look like at this point, but I believe it is a chance to help a family in need. Please keep this family and Raul in your prayers!

We had a small team here from working on houses in a town called Xenacoj that left yesterday. They built a house, and we were visiting and connecting with various churches and Pastors in the area, as well as making house visits and seeing if we have resources to meet the needs of the families that are in extreme need.

When I am in these places, it is always a reminder of how blessed I am. I know I’ve written that before, but it is something that is important in our spiritual walk. Even through the difficulties, we have to find reasons to praise God for His mercies on us.
